And Just Like That Christmas Is Over

This morning I set my alarm for 6am and was up by 5:25am thanks to my puppy who informed me that he needed to go out. If you’ve ever had a puppy you know the “informing” comes in the way of whining, yelping and full out barking.

After letting him out, feeding him and then finally giving in and walking him or risk him waking up the entire house with his playfulness I put on make-up, “styled” my hair (aka: pulled it back into a ponytail I actually brushed!) then put on spanx, nylons and a dress.

I also inhaled 2 full mugs of coffee before heading out the door for work and leaving the kids, the puppy and the nanny at home.

At My Desk

Just like that, Christmas is over and I’m back at my desk paying $125+ a day in child care until school starts up again next week.

Thank goodness for coffee.

Happy 2013 y’all. Now get back to work!

  1. Off until tomorrow, then just work the one day until next week, but can still relate to your pain as Dec 31st we brought home our 9 week old fuzzy baby, so NYE was spent putting him out every 2 hours, then me sleeping on the floor next to him from 4am-7am; last night up until 11:30pm then up again just after 5am. And that seems to be the pattern I will be living for the next few months. Like a newborn, though fuzzier and less transportable. But at least I don’t have to breastfeed, and can crate him without getting CAS all up in my hizzle ;) And you’ve gotta admit, we just can’t beat the blood-pressure-lowering puppy love !!!

    • Kande – I have been reading Cesar Milan (The Dog Whisperer)’s book on raising a puppy. It’s AWESOME and definitely will help with the crate training and everything else!

      • I inhaled all his books prior to getting our boy! He is a really good boy, we are very lucky! He will be in an enclosed area (not crated, but sealed off from most of the house) in the morning, crated after lunch, out for evening, and back in crate for night. So far he is adjusting well!! He is very smart, and has only had two accidents inside! The exhaustion is par for the course, as needs a last outing at 11pm, and then is up again by 5am … oh well. Will be short-lived I am sure. Hope your boy is adjusting well too :)

  2. Yep. sigh.

  3. Oh that break is so SO wonderful, but getting back into reality kinda sucks!!
Hope to see you again in 2013! :)
