I am not a shopper. Don’t get me wrong I like to buy stuff but I don’t roam the aisles checking out the products and I certainly don’t do any kind of online research or comparative shopping. Maybe I should. The truth of the matter is I buy the things I know I like, especially if they’re on sale. Everything else seems overwhelming on the shelves.
But then the email came from the fabulous Proctor & Gamble PR team asking if I’d like to be a #PGMom. I was honoured and a little humbled to be chosen among the hundreds of bloggers across the country.
I expected there would be a launch event (which there was) and products (which are delivered right to my front door!). What I didn’t expect was the amazing amount of new products that would show up every month - things I’ve never seen before with brand names I know and trust.
And then came the dilemma.
The dilemma for me has been finding a way to tell you about both the new and the tried and true products you should add to your shopping list without boring you or flaunting my #PGMom deliveries. I worry about creating content with a story and relevance to your lives but the truth is the product is the story and the relevance is simple – don’t wander the aisles just look for these.
So I’m taking the K.I.S.S. approach with my brand new COVERGIRL Lip Perfection Lipstick on (in Tempt – love that name!) and am keeping it simple. If I like a product, I’m going to tell you about it. Not as a review, just as more of a PSA for moms and women like me who are too busy to notice some of the new products on the shelves and still rely on a quick snoop through our friends’ bathroom cabinets. I’m going to be that friend and will come right out and tell you what’s currently in my cabinets. No snooping required.
So stay tuned for some product profiles coming up but in the interim here’s what I’ve learned so far:
Vick’s Vapor Rub ROCKS! How did I get through 9 years of parenting without ever using it on my kids when they had a cold? My whole upstairs currently smells of this product but my son who is battling an awful head cold is sleeping soundly. That’s a total #PGMom win for me.
COVERGIRL Lip Perfection Lipstick actually stays on your lips way better than some of the make-up counter lipsticks I’ve been buying.
I’m on day three of my self-painted nail job using COVERGIRL
Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss. I’ve been taking pictures and am very impressed – not a single chip. I’m hoping for a chip-free work week (2 more days to go!) and will let you know if I make it.
Herbal Essences’ Honey I’m Strong Rinse Off Treatment is unbelievable! Given that I am living in one of the driest climates in Canada and have two girls with thick long hair this product deserves a post of it’s own. Don’t wait for the post though – look for this product. We’ve had soft, smooth, tangle free hair ever since we started using it. Even on my curly-haired “don’t want my hair brushed” child!
Also (don’t tell my Grandma!) I’ve been washing my whites in COLD water using Tide
Coldwater and honestly I can’t even tell the difference.
As far as I’m concerned, my dilemma is over. I’m trying some great products and loving some of them so much I think you should know about them. Can’t wait to share some too!
I am a P&Gmom. As part of my affiliation with this group I receive products and special access to P&G events and opportunities.
The opinions on this blog are my own.

I’m definitely interested in hearing about the nail polish and if you make it through the week chip free. I’m a nail polish junkie : )
So I chipped my pinky a bit today but it was totally self-inflicted since I stuck it into my keyboard to try to dig out a paperclip I dropped between the keys. So I’d say day 4 is still chip free and I’ll let you know what happens tomorrow.
Great review! I love everything P&G – truly can’t believe all they make!
I know! I didn’t even realize everything that had the PG logo on it until it started getting dropped off on my front porch!
I am loving the nail gloss too, it goes on so shiny and does last, and my hair is so soft since using the Honey I’m Strong product.
I can’t believe how much I LOVE that Honey I’m Strong stuff. What it does to my daughters’ hair (and mine) is magic!
I will be looking for the Herbal Essences’ Honey I’m Strong Rinse Off Treatment today! Thanks for the tip, I have a daughter and we battle the tangles every morning and every morning I threaten to take her to get it all cut off if she won’t let me brush it.
Jenny – the Rinse of Treatment is a once a week thing but Pantene makes an awesome detangling spray that we’ve been using every single day!
Love how you’re approaching this. I’m having the same dilemma. So many awesome products, so little time and space to gush about them all.
Deborah – you are 100% right. There are so many things that come in those #PGMom boxes and I have yet to not like something and tons of them I just want to gush about but needed to get over the “dilemma” first. Thanks for your support!
I like the format and do keep us posted on the COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss. I work with my hands so my nails are usually bare, but lately I have been wanting a little color and this might just do the trick.
