What Speed Skating Mom Called Me

This is the second time I’ve devoted an entire post to something Speed Skating Mom aka @SharonDV on twitter has said to me. The first was mostly about how inferior errr… I mean motivated she makes me feel with all her talk about speed skating and dry land training and something crazy called a triathlon.

This one, however, is about this one simple tweet:

Queen of Hair Changes

Me?

The queen of hair changes?

I can guarantee you no one has ever said anything like that about me ever (cue Taylor Swift: Never ever ever…).

My hair has been boring, straight and blond since I was born. In grade seven I grew out my bangs and that could honestly be called the most dramatic change my hair has ever been through then and since.

But when I look through the quickly snapped iPhone photos from the last two days I may not be the queen of hair changes but I definitely had some hair variety.

Here I am on Friday night at the YummyMummyClub.ca party with curls.

Notice the cowboy boots? In case you’re wondering I did wear those downtown Toronto and I know the cowboys I left back home would be proud.

Here I am with straight hair on Saturday stalking the Starbucks booth. I’m pretty sure it’s called stalking once you’ve “sampled” more than a few times.

Starbucks Barista Love

Now here I am on Saturday night all Mad Men Wives-esque for the now famous Blissdom Canada costumes and karaoke (there was a group of us – more pictures to follow I’m sure).

And the back…

And the number of pins I pulled out of my head around 2am Sunday morning (just in case you were wondering).

Hair Pins

I love that somehow through the miracle of a little bit of effort and time (thanks to leaving the children at home with my husband) I was able to pull off something I’ve never done before – being creative in the hair department.

Unfortunately, to dispel any perceptions that this is a) something I do on a regular basis or b) something I am capable of maintaining at all, here I am Sunday morning on the train post-Blissdom-I’m-Having-Too-Much-Fun-To-Sleep syndrome.

Overtired Hair

That’s right, straight, blond and boring (and still full of Mad Men required hairspray).

I hope Sharon’s not too disappointed.
