I won’t lie – I may have done a little happy dance when Ubisoft Canada offered me two tickets to Justin Bieber to celebrate the release of Just Dance 4.
After all, in every city on his tour tickets went on sale and were sold out seconds later.
Sure I could have sold them for hundreds (thousands?) of dollars but I opted to be mother of the year and surprised my sweet nine year old Sugar Plum with tickets she thought were impossible to get.
Since we were in the midst of packing for our 5,000km road trip through Northern BC, Yukon and Alaska (more on that later) I didn’t really have time to consider what the impact of taking my nine year old daughter to see her first real super-star concert would have on her at this young age.
I wasn’t concerned about giving into heart-throb culture or screaming fans or song lyrics – not when it comes to Justin Bieber at least.
But you see, Justin Bieber has back-up dancers. A lot of them and they were amazing.
Just look at how that ponytail bops all over – that was just as much for Bieber as it was for his dancers.

My sweet little nine year old happens to be a very talented dancer and a big dreamer and for the first time ever she saw people dancing on a stage in front of a crowd of thousands.
For the first time ever she realized that you could make a career out of dancing with superstars.
Now THAT I certainly didn’t consider before accepting the tickets.
Ever since Sugar Plum could comprehend “what do you want to be when you grow-up”, being a dancer meant being a ballerina or a ballet teacher. Justin Bieber and his dance crew gave her something new to ponder, to consider, maybe even to dream.
As her mother, I’m not sure I would dream of that kind of dancer’s lifestyle for my daughter, but I definitely want her to dream.
I did however take it upon myself to mention on the drive home that every single one of Justin Bieber’s dancers has a university degree (in math or science or something really hard!) and are at least 22 years old – because that’s entirely plausible right?
As an FYI (because the Yukon snow reminded me), the holidays are just around the corner and Just Dance 4 makes an AMAZING gift for your little dancer and for you too! I didn’t even know until we tried it out that Just Dance 4 comes with a “Just Sweat It Out” feature with fantastic and fun workouts.
PS: Here’s the link to the Just Dance 4 playlist because I know you want to know.

So cute.
Tween dreams.
Of course its entirely plausible those dancers all have a post-secondary educations. After all, they need something to fall back on, right?
This game sounds as much fun for grown-ups as it is for kids. I’ll have to check it out.
My girlie danced and danced and danced her way through her childhood. She does earn money now dancing for a DJ company as a party host. There’s nothing wrong with a dream, even if it’s not the one we would choose for our kids. She can take a university degree and dance at the same time. I’m sure that all of those dancers have degrees in engineering..yes.. That’s it.
