Will You Have Enough To Eat This Holiday Season?

Kraft Food For FamiliesWith Halloween now at a close we can expect our televisions, radios and social media feeds to be filled with holiday classic songs and reminders of how many shopping days are left.

I will admit, while I don’t particularly love Halloween, I easily get swept into everything that is Christmas. Though I try not to go overboard, by the time the big day hits my house is bursting with presents and baking and decorations.

I am very lucky.

I have never once lost sight of how lucky I really am.

Being able to feed our children large holiday meals is a luxury many parents in this country do not have. In fact, a luxury for far too many Canadian parents is being able to feed our children at all.

This holiday season Kraft Canada has partnered with Food Banks Canada to select 100 food banks across our country that truly need our help. The second annual Kraft Food for Families campaign focuses both on the food donation needs of our community food banks and most more specifically on their capacity needs. What many don’t know is that cash donations help not only to purchase food but also to provide the basic resources (like coolers, shelving, vehicles and storage space) that so many of these food banks are lacking.

The Kraft Food for Families program recognizes that without adequate resources, our food banks are challenged when it comes to serving the needs of our communities – that it takes more than food to feed families – and once again they are doing something about it.

With your help, the Kraft Food for Families campaign will donate up to $125,000 to food banks across the country. From November 1, 2012 (TODAY!) to December 31, 2012 Canadians can add their name once a day (every day!) to support a food bank in their community simply by visiting KraftFoodForFamilies.ca.

Why does your name matter? Because each time a name is added 50 cents will be donated to a food bank of your choice. A total of $20,000 is available in each region and once the $20,000 is reached, the food bank with the most names in that region will receive a bonus donation of $5,000.

I am honoured to once again be helping to spread the word about Kraft Food For Families and am proud to be representing my new home region – Western Canada.

Though moving 3,000km from everyone and everything we have ever known was not an easy decision to make, Western Canada has opened its arms wide and welcomed us home.

Kraft Food for Families is one of the ways I hope to give back and say thank you to the prairies for giving me and my family opportunities we would not have had back east.

Of the 100 selected food banks across Canada, 19 of them are in the Western Canada region which includes Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. If you live in the Western Canada region I urge you to bookmark KraftFoodForFamilies.ca and add your name once a day, every day to support one of the food banks in our region.

Of course, if you live in the Pacific, Atlantic, Ontario or Quebec regions – your food banks need your help too.

I promise it will be the easiest way we make an impact on our community this holiday season.

So what are you waiting for? Visit www.KraftFoodForFamilies.ca RIGHT NOW, add your name and help make a difference in the lives of the families in our communities.
